I have a dilemma [Apr. 18th, 2009|10:25 am]
I have a job interview on Tuesday, for a job I stand a good chance of getting.  For the last 18months to 2 years I have been so frustrated with my job, but in the last few weeks a few things have started to happen that may make it worthwhile to stay.  I love the place I manage, I am just so frustrated that I have no resources to manage it!!!

What's Your Personality Type? [Mar. 16th, 2009|08:06 pm]
You Are An ENFP
The Inspirer

You love being around people, and you are deeply committed to your friends.
You are also unconventional, irreverent, and unimpressed by authority.
Incredibly perceptive, you can usually sense if someone has hidden motives.
You use lots of colorful language and expressions. You're quite the storyteller!

In love, you are quite the charmer. And you are definitely willing to risk your heart.
You often don't follow through with your flirting or professed feelings. You break a lot of hearts.

At work, you are driven but not a workaholic. You just always seem to enjoy what you do.
You would make an excellent entrepreneur, politician, or journalist.

How you see yourself: compassionate, unselfish, and understanding

When other people don't get you, they see you as: gushy, emotional, and unfocused

For those that know her [Feb. 12th, 2009|08:07 pm]
Maude, the marauder, mad kelpie x fox terrorist, went off to chase tennis balls in doggy heaven today....Maude was 16 and as still naughty as a puppy despite only one good leg,  sight and hearing pretty much gone, breathing problems and this week an abscess on her tooth/face.

Many people have known and loved Maude. I am the most lucky and privileged of those people because  I have shared her life since that day in March 1993 when she followed me down the street at the ripe old age of 5 weeks.

In the 16 years we have shared she has loved me and driven me to distraction.  I have loved her, chased her, played with her.  Many sheets ( only expensive ones!) and stuffed toys have fallen victim to her.  We have walked many miles, swam, cuddled, slept curled up, cried together.  She has charmed many little boys, and big girls, a floozy to the end.  She has survived runs up highways, jumps under cars and many horse kicks to the head.  Maude was so clever she went from beginner to next to the top class in agility in 5 weeks.  Unfortunately she learnt that she could jump fences too.  I cried with fear when she has run away from the thunder monster ( over that fence) or  climbed out of the moving horse float..somewhere on the way.......

Today I held her while she slept.  She will sleep forever under Michaels pear tree where she can yap at the passing people.  She has gone to be with her old friends Sam and Possum and Sascha. She was the last of the gang...

its a birthday [Jan. 10th, 2009|12:24 am]
I am about to turn fifty  on the 19 January, oh my goodness, .  What is possibly even more amazing is that on the 6 February I will not have had a drink or a drug for 20 years.

So to celebrate, and to set the goal of living until 2050, I want to have dinner with all my lovely and amazing friends.  That would be you all.

On 31 January ( which is my Dads birthday too) you are invited to Leo’s Italian restaurant on Goode St, Granville at 7.30 to have dinner with me.

Dinner will be a set menu and cost about $40 per head.  The restaurant has changed hands since I last went so I don’t know if it quite as good as it was,.....but it will be a lovely time.

RSVP for booking before 28 January so I can let the restaurant know final numbers. 0438 677 679 or email.

response to LJ post [Nov. 24th, 2008|04:21 pm]
In my post about being refused income protection insurance I asked Trashi ( Cotton) if she would see if she could get some coverage.  This was her response:

"deputy editor (who's skinny) just asked me to do a feature story about discrimination against overweight people - focussing on the many "invisible" things that the rest of society doesn't notice.

You don't have to be on the record, it can be anonymous contributions.
It can be instances/comments from as many areas as possible: medical, public transport, income protection insurance, fertility stuff, fashion, change rooms - as many different angles to show how prevalent the discrimination is, in areas that the general public might not have thought about.

He didn't give a specific length, but probably if you want to write about 200wds to summarise your experiences and I can contact u/go from there. If you want to write about positive discrimination, maybe keep that shorter.

he said he wants the perspective of overweight people who are fit and productive and those who are sickly and less productive too.

I have to get onto it as soon as possible. i get monday and tuesday off, so can do it then.
If you know anyone who has cases of discrimination and would like to send me their comments, feel free to pass on my email: cotton.ward@gmail.com."

This would be a great thing to support...and it would be fabulous if we could also get rid od the word overweight because I hate it!!..email her please and pass this on

too fat to insure [Nov. 13th, 2008|02:15 pm]

Five years ago i applied for income protection insurance and my doctor recieved a reply ( not me!) that I was too fat to insure.

I just asked the same company for a pre-assessment and they told me the same thing.

Bear in mind I show no sign of any weight related illness!, or any illness for that matter.  I dont smoke or drink, I eat healthy food and exercise.

Trashi - you interested in doing a newpaper story!!!

moving house again - let that be it! [Nov. 13th, 2008|05:26 am]
In an attempt to have a better year next year, we are moving house in the next three weeks..back to my little house in Granville...there are currently renovations to make enough room so that we can live there, yay for attic storage!

Uk trip to see folks was good...but what is it about aging..its a bitch I tell you..nothing to aspire too...die young!...Poor Sig is not coping with the picture I paint of me as old and with dementia, but I think the least of it will be the dribbling and the desire to air my vagina in public..

I got back to work to strike action....what a wild ride that is
